Sliding Glass Patio Door Replacement in St. Louis

A sliding glass patio door is two or more glass panels in one frame, and at least one panel glides on rollers. It opens your room to the deck or yard without swinging into either. ProVia builds four of them in vinyl: Aeris, Endure, Aspect and EcoLite.

ProVia names STL Windows and Doors a Platinum Dealer and a certified installer of its doors. Our own crew takes out the old slider, French pair or hinged door and sets the new unit in the same opening.

All four share one vinyl frame recipe. They differ in what sits inside it: a wood or vinyl interior, the color range, the glass lineup and the price. Every color, glass and hardware choice for a door is on that door’s own page.

Sticking, leaking or fogged? Those are the three reasons most St. Louis sliders get replaced. Worn rollers, a failed seal at the sill, or a glass unit that has lost its seal. A new unit fixes all three at once, and our 10-year workmanship warranty covers the installation.

SLIDING PATIO DOOR KEY FEATURES

Four doors, one frame recipe. Every ProVia sliding patio door we install is built this way.

Vinyl Frame Built to Last

ProVia’s own PVC formula makes a rigid frame that glides for years, tested to AAMA standards for strength.

Made for Weather and Sun

The vinyl is formulated to stand up to UV, heat and southern exposure and keep its color.

Smooth, Adjustable Rollers

Each panel rides on four adjustable 1-inch wheels, so the door stays level and slides with one hand.

Water Drains Out

A patented sill drainage system sends rain out of the track, not onto your floor.

Steel Where It Counts

Aeris, Endure and Aspect sashes are reinforced with galvanized steel. EcoLite uses a welded frame instead.

Glass Packages

Double or triple pane, low-E glass, up to 13 packages. ENERGY STAR certified options on every line.

BetterVue Screen

A fiberglass mesh screen comes standard. It shows more view, keeps more bugs out and sheds dirt.

Two Warranties

ProVia covers the door for as long as you own the home, and that warranty transfers. We cover the installation for 10 years.

ENERGY STAR depends on the glass package you choose. Ask at the estimate which package qualifies for your door.

THE FOUR PROVIA SLIDING PATIO DOORS WE INSTALL

WHICH PATIO DOOR FITS YOUR OPENING?

Four things decide it. Your project consultant settles all four at the in-home visit, tape measure in hand, so you never measure a thing.

Two, Three or Four Panels

Aeris, Endure and Aspect come as 2-, 3- or 4-panel doors. On a 3- or 4-panel door the moving panel can sit left, right or center. EcoLite is a 2-panel door in two standard sizes.

Transoms and Sidelites

Fixed glass above or beside the door, in the same frame, on Aeris, Endure and Aspect. It fills a tall or wide opening without a second unit.

One Panel or the Whole Unit

The whole unit comes out and a new one goes in: panels, frame, track and sill. Swapping one panel or a roller is a repair, and we do not do repairs. A new unit is what fixes a door that sticks, leaks or has fogged glass.

Where a French Door Is Now

A slider usually fits where a hinged pair was, if the opening is wide enough for the panels you want. The consultant measures it. If you want it the other way round, see our French door page.

HOW A SLIDING PATIO DOOR SEALS AND LOCKS

The two panels meet at an interlock: a hooked rail on each panel that grips the other when the door closes. Weatherstrip runs the full height on both sides of it, and a sweep seals the bottom of the moving panel.

Locks differ by line. Endure comes standard with a multi-point mortise lock and a Schlage C keyway, so one key can work the whole house. Aspect adds a footlock at the threshold, with a four-point lock as an upgrade on 2- and 3-panel doors. EcoLite offers a keylock and a footlock as options.

A slider set level and square glides with one hand, locks without lifting, and shows no daylight at the interlock. The sill drains after rain. Check those four things on install day. If any of them slips later, the 10-year workmanship warranty is what brings us back.

WHAT DRIVES THE COST OF PATIO DOOR REPLACEMENT

There is no one price for a patio door installed. The door you choose and the opening it fills decide the number. Six things move it:

  • Panel count: a 3- or 4-panel door costs more than a 2-panel
  • Glass package: triple pane, low-E upgrades, internal blinds and privacy glass cost more than clear double pane
  • Finish: a factory paint color or a real wood interior costs more than a standard vinyl color
  • Locks and hardware: a multi-point lock upgrade, or a hardware finish other than white
  • Transoms and sidelites add glass and frame
  • The condition of the sill and framing: a straight swap costs less than a rebuild first

One estimate, one number. It includes the door built to your opening, the old unit taken out, our own crew’s installation, the cleanup, and the 10-year workmanship warranty. A slider off a store shelf comes in stock sizes only, and the store that sells it rarely installs it.

Ask about the cash discount. Same-as-cash financing runs through GreenSky, EnerBank USA and Aqua. The in-home estimate itself costs nothing and puts you under no obligation.

FROM FIRST CALL TO FINISHED DOOR

Four steps, and you only have to make the first one.

01

Talk with a Pro

Ask for a free estimate. A project consultant calls you back to set a time to come out, anywhere in St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin or Lincoln County.

02

Onsite Assessment

At the visit the consultant measures the opening, checks the sill and the framing, and brings samples of all four doors with their colors and glass. You settle the door, the panel count, which panel slides, the finish and the glass.

03

Your Estimate

A written estimate spells out the price and the installation details. After you sign and put down a deposit, our measure and installation tech comes back for a second measure, and only then does the door go on order.

04

Installation Day

The old unit comes out, the new door goes in level and square, gets sealed and trimmed, and the crew cleans up. In a home built before 1978 the crew follows lead-safe practices, which we hold the license for. Before they leave, they show you the door and the lock.

WHY WE INSTALL PROVIA, AND WHY HOMEOWNERS CALL US

We install ProVia sliding patio doors and nothing else. ProVia tests every door for air and water leaks, wind load and smooth operation, and builds them in Sugar Creek, Ohio. ProVia names us a Platinum Dealer and a certified installer. The company has been family owned since Andy Lombardozzi founded it in 2014. Our own trained crews do the work, and a 10-year workmanship warranty covers every installation.

WHEN A FRENCH DOOR IS THE BETTER CHOICE

A slider is the wrong call when you want the whole opening to open, or when the look of a hinged pair matters more than floor space. A French door pair opens fully, swings in or out, and takes sidelites and a transom. It costs more than a slider and needs room to swing.

Still comparing? Our guide to choosing new patio doors sets the two types side by side.

SLIDING PATIO DOOR QUESTIONS

Not answered here? Send us the question.

ProVia’s warranty on the vinyl runs for as long as you own and live in the home, and it transfers to the next owner. It covers chips, cracks, peeling, pitting and blisters. Rollers and weatherstrip are the wear parts, and the adjustable wheels keep the door gliding straight for years.

A 2-panel door is usually 5 or 6 feet wide and 80 inches tall. A 3-panel runs about 9 feet and a 4-panel about 12 feet. ProVia builds to your opening, so an odd size is measured and made, not forced.

Triple pane adds a third sheet of glass and a second sealed air space. The inside glass stays warmer in winter, the room is quieter, and condensation is less likely. It costs more and weighs more, which is why it comes with the heavier rollers.

Yes on Aeris and Endure, in white or a color. Aspect offers white internal blinds. EcoLite does not offer blinds; it offers privacy or tinted glass and internal grids instead.

The seal on the glass unit failed and moisture got in. It cannot be cleaned or fixed. A new door comes with a new sealed low-E glass package, and the fog problem goes with the old door.

Wash the frame and glass with mild soap and water, and vacuum the track so grit does not chew the rollers. Do not oil the rollers; oil holds grit. A dry silicone spray on the track once a year keeps it gliding.

Yes, someone needs to be there. Clear furniture, blinds and curtains from around the door before the crew arrives. Give the caulk 24 hours to dry before blinds get screwed back into the trim.
