St. Peters Window and Door Replacement
STL Windows and Doors installs ProVia replacement windows and exterior doors for homeowners in St. Peters, Missouri.
Replacing windows or exterior doors in St. Peters requires a building permit. When the city adopted the 2021 International Residential Code in December 2023, it rewrote the list of permit-exempt work in full, and neither windows nor doors appear anywhere on it. The only window-related exemption left is a window awning projecting less than 54 inches from the wall.
Which means your installation gets inspected. That is worth knowing when you compare quotes, because a crew that treats the permit as optional is a crew whose work has never been checked by anyone.
We pull the permit and meet the inspector. St. Peters takes permit drawings in digital format, and the building department can charge up to a dollar a page to convert paper plans, so there is no reason to be handing paper across the counter. Starting work before the permit is issued carries an additional fee under the city fee schedule, which is small, avoidable, and entirely on us to avoid.

St. Peters Window Replacement
For your windows, the number that actually governs the job in St. Peters is the fenestration U-factor. The city caps it at 0.35. Every ProVia window we install is rated at or below that, so compliance never becomes your problem.
St. Peters sits in Climate Zone 4A, where the city sets no solar heat gain limit at all. That is genuinely useful to you: it means you can choose glass that lets winter sun into a south-facing room rather than being pushed into a low-gain coating that a hotter climate zone would force on you.
St. Peters Door Replacement
Exterior doors fall under the same permit rule. We replace front entry doors in fiberglass and steel, sliding glass patio doors, French doors and storm doors, all ProVia, all measured to your existing opening rather than cut down to fit it.
If the property is a rental, there is a second thing worth knowing. St. Peters requires a re-occupancy inspection on non-owner-occupied dwellings. Windows that will not open, will not latch, or have failed seals are exactly what gets written up. If you own rental property here, it is cheaper to handle before that inspection than after it.

Basement Bedrooms and the St. Peters Egress Rule
If you are finishing a basement here, or replacing a window in a basement room that anyone sleeps in, St. Peters is specific. The city requires an egress window measuring five square feet in its open position, with the sill no more than 44 inches above the finished floor.
Read that first number carefully, because it is the one that costs people money. Five square feet is the opening you get when the window is actually open, not the size of the hole in the wall. A slider dropped into the same rough opening will not always clear it. We measure the open dimension before anything is ordered, which is why our basement and hopper window orders do not come back to be redone.
On cost: we do not publish one price per window, because the figure moves with size, style, glass package and how many openings you are doing at once. What we can do is show you how the pricing works before anyone visits. Our Window Replacement Buyers Guide sets out what drives the number, and financing is available if you would rather spread it.
The installation carries a 10-year workmanship warranty from us, on top of the limited lifetime transferable product warranty on the ProVia units themselves. The crew that quotes it is the crew that installs it. We do not subcontract.
