When You Do Need a County Permit in Oakville
There is one case where a permit is always required and people regularly get it wrong. If the damage came from fire, wind, flood, termites or an earthquake, a permit is needed to repair it regardless of how minor the damage is. A storm-broken window in a damaged wall is not the same job as a straightforward replacement, and it should not be quoted as one.
Glass replacement inside an existing frame is exempt as well, though the new glass still has to meet safety glazing requirements where they apply. If what you actually have is one failed seal rather than fifteen tired windows, we would rather tell you that. It costs you a great deal less and it is usually the honest answer.
